The Thing You Keep Putting Off

You know the one. It's been sitting in the back of your head for a while now.

Maybe it's the trip. The business idea. The conversation you've been rehearsing in the shower for six months. Signing up for the class, the race, the open mic. Calling someone back.

It's not that you forgot about it. You think about it all the time. That's kind of the problem.

Someday isn't on the calendar

Here's the thing about "someday." It feels like a plan, but it's actually a parking lot. Stuff goes there and just sits.

And it's mid October. The leaves are doing their thing, the hoodies are coming out of the closet, and the year is quietly wrapping up. There are fewer than three months left in 2026.

Not trying to stress you out. Just saying, it's a good time to check in with yourself.

What's still sitting in the lot?

It's usually not about time

Most of us tell ourselves we're waiting for the right moment. More money, more time, more confidence, a better plan.

But if we're being real, it's usually fear. Fear of looking dumb. Fear of failing in front of people. Fear that it won't turn out as good as it looks in your head.

That's normal. Fear shows up for everybody. Think of it like a gatekeeper. It stands between where you are and where you could grow, and it asks you one question: is this one worth it to you?

Not every gate is worth pushing through. Some risks really aren't worth taking, and that's fine. Fükitt has never been about being reckless. It's about picking the challenges that actually matter to you and going after those on purpose.

The decision is the hard part

Here's how we see it. Saying "fuck it" isn't the start of trying. It's the moment you decide.

There's a big difference between "I should really do that" and "okay, I'm doing it." The first one is a thought. The second one changes your week.

And the good news is that deciding doesn't mean you have it all figured out. You don't need the whole staircase. You just need the first step.

Make it small enough to start today

Big goals are easy to put off because they're big. So shrink it.

  • Want to start a business? Write down the name and three things it would sell. That's it for today.
  • Want to get in better shape? Go for one walk. Tonight.
  • Want to fix things with someone? Send the text. "Hey, been thinking about you."
  • Want to travel? Pick the place and look up one flight.

None of those are the whole thing. But each one pulls it out of the parking lot and back on the road.

Then take the next small step tomorrow. And the one after that. Momentum is way easier to keep going than it is to start.

Go easy on yourself about the past

If you're reading this and thinking about all the times you didn't go for it, let that go. Seriously.

Regrets are mostly the ghosts of decisions we didn't make. You can't go back and make those now. But you can make the next one. Your past self did the best they could with what they had. Your future self is counting on what you do next.

And if you're going through something heavy right now, it's okay to make the challenge smaller. Sometimes getting out of bed, calling a friend, or asking for help is the bravest thing on the list. That counts. That really counts.

Your move

So here's our ask. Pick one thing. Not five. One.

Write it down somewhere you'll see it every day. Tell one person you trust. Take the first tiny step before the weekend's over.

Then tell us about it. Tag @fukittclothing or email us at info@fukittclothing.com. We love hearing from the Fükitt Family, and you never know who your story might nudge into going for theirs.

It's not impossible. You just haven't decided to do it yet.

And if you want a little reminder on the hard days, that's all our gear is meant to be. It's a mentality, not a lifestyle.
