Why I Booked a Trip to Italy
My husband and I have been talking about going to Italy for about 2 years now. I've been there 3 times already, but my husband hasn't. Last year, we just couldn't find the time between events and the business.
This year, I decided was the year we were definitely going. I didn't want yet another year to go by with saying, "well, next year we will go"...because you know what happens, next year happens again...
After spending a few weeks looking at the pricing of tickets and trying to figure out our schedule for the business and the best time to travel for a decent amount of time to Italy, it just didn't seem like we were going to be able to fit it into our schedule yet again this year. Screw that!
I just happened to be checking out pricing of tickets and found something perfect for us, time-wise and price-wise. So, without hesitation, I said, "Babe, I found cheap flights to Italy so I'm going to book them, OK?" His response, "OK"!! And boom! About 30 seconds later, the flights were booked! We both said, "Fuck it!"
I know it sounds like we're going tomorrow, but we're not...we're going in 5 months. (It happens to fall on our 6th year wedding anniversary, so even better!) And that gives me enough time to brush up on my Italian. I have some basics down but would prefer to know more, so it's time I really put an effort into it.
No plans or anything else booked: no hotels, no trains, no nothing; just the flight, and for me, that's enough! I can do everything on the fly and I like it that way! Considering I've sent a lot of time in my land of heritage, I know what we should and shouldn't see and do and where we have to go.
It's an amazing country and I cannot wait to go again to eat and drink lovely wine and see everything with someone I love. 11 days is barely enough and it will fly by but we will get plenty in during that time! The game plan is to visit both coasts and several different cities. This way, we can do what we please, when we please and on our own schedule! I'm so excited!
My husband took me to the Philippines after we were married to see where he's from and experience his culture first hand, and now he gets to really see my culture and enjoy the amazing food and history of Italy!
Sometimes, people put off things for a lot of reasons. Usually, time and money are the main reasons. Well, from my experience the only thing you can spend money that makes your life richer is travel.
Yes, it costs you money but nothing can replace travel for making your life a little more enhanced. So take your time, think about it and when the opportunity arises to book that flight and take that trip to enhance your life, don't put it off!
Travel while you're young enough to really enjoy everything and every place this wonderful world has to offer.
